This project involved the conversion of a 1960s school hall into a purpose-built theatre. The school received specialist status for the performing and visual arts and the new theatre provides much needed performance facilities.
We designed a rectangular open-stage space with fixed seating for 300 people. Technical installations provide a lighting and sound infrastructure, which can be added to at a later date.
The theatre has been used by local community groups, as well as the school and it has been designed to qualify for a public entertainments licence. It has also provided the venue for the highly acclaimed Sky TV production of Hairspray, the High School Musical.
