Broadway Cinema and Theatre, Peterborough

The Broadway in Peterborough is a privately funded multi-purpose entertainment venue, created by restoring and modernising a former Odeon Cinema built in 1937. The completed building combines careful restoration of the original 1930s ‘moderne’ auditorium, including purpose designed carpets and fabrics, with contemporary front of house and backstage facilities.

The front facade and foyers have been completely remodelled with a new planar glazed extension, which opens the building up to the street and increases floor space. New toilets have been created and a new glass lift provides access to all levels. The 1200 seat auditorium has been fully restored, incorporating new seating, carpets, lighting and state of the art technical equipment. At the rear of the building an extension behind the stage provides new dressing rooms, offices and staff accommodation.
